MWBS were to carry out a radiator replacement scheme which consisted of over 200 new K3 radiator units to be installed across the 4 residential/ student accommodation buildings on site. This was to ensure that all rooms private and communal would have the appropriate heating throughout the colder months as the old single rads which were in place did not have the efficiency or reliability of these new units. Alongside this a completely new boiler system had to be installed. The refurbishment project works which were undertaken were:
- To strip-out the existing boilers, primary shunt pumps, primary circuit pipework (including valves, fittings, fixings) pressurisation unit, expansion vessel
- Supply and install new boilers, primary heating shunt pumps, heating distribution pipework, plate heat exchangers, circulation pumps, air source heat pumps, ventilation, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, control devices and associated electrical services, fittings and fixtures. Air Source Heat Pumps were installed replacing the old existing units.
